English students at work at Passmores School and Technology College.

The English Language course focuses upon the creation of texts by exploring the way in which the writer uses words and other mediums to convey ideas and to influence the reader and the world in certain ways. The course takes students on an exploration into the use of verbal and non-verbal language and asks them to analyse, comment on, and evaluate this use of language, whilst also creating their own written and verbal texts. Students interact with a range of texts, from poetry and prose to media texts such as newspaper articles and different advertising mediums, as well as being asked to create a range of texts in a variety of mediums and for different purposes.
