Arts

The Expressive Arts fuses together intellect and emotion, providing students with a unique method of communication and personal expression. As an integral part of culture, past and present, the Expressive Arts help pupils understand themselves, relate to others and develop their cultural understanding, forging important links between home, school and the wider world.
At Passmores, we encourage active involvement in a range of artistic endeavours thereby increasing pupil motivation, self-esteem and ability to work with others in a group context. We aim to develop pupils’ critical skills: their ability to listen, to appreciate a wide variety of artistic expression and to make judgements about the quality of art and performance.
We are a team of six professionals across four disciplines: music, dance, drama and visual arts. The Expressive Arts had a profound effect on our own time at school and we are keen to provide similar positive experiences for Passmores’ students, both in and out of the classroom.
Students have access to a number of clubs including Dance Technique, Dance Performance, Art Club, Drama Club, Glee Club, Steel Pans, Soul Band, Wind Band, Rock Club and individual instrumental tuition. Students can also take part in the annual production which in past years has included Oliver, Annie, Grease, Back to The Eighties and Joseph and the Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat.
