Art

Art and Design teaches students how to communicate visually using different media from drawing with a pencil to making three-dimensional responses to a range of subjects. Students learn how to observe and respond to their surroundings effectively by using the basic elements such as Tone and Colour. They learn how to recognise and use different methods and styles from their research into other artists’ work and develop their own individual responses to first and second-hand sources.
At Passmores, students will get a chance to use two and three-dimensional media including Computer-aided design. They will have a solid grounding in Drawing and Painting and be able to develop ideas in an effective and personal way using their own interests where appropriate.
A successful Art and Design education will allow students to think outside the box and be creative when solving problems. It will foster independent learning abilities and a visual awareness of the world of design and advertising.
Whatever employment students end up in, the need for initiative and creative problem-solving is becoming an increasing requirement, these days.
