| Passmores in China
>> |

Passmores students have once again taken
part in an exchange visit to our partner school in Suzhou in China.
Passmores is part of the close links that
have been developed by schools across Essex in the last two decades. As part of the
ongoing development of these links one hundred of our students have been receiving weekly
Mandarin Chinese language lessons from a teacher working in three Harlow schools. We have
worked closely with Stewards and Burnt Mill schools as part of the Essex links to Jiangsu Province
in southern China.
The picture shows Passmores students and teachers
on the Bund in Shanghai. In the skyline behind the group you can see two of the ten
tallest buildings in the world! More >> |

| At Passmores we
are passionate about learning and teaching. The school gives the
highest priority to quality teaching that excites, motivates
and challenges all young people. Our mission is to develop highly
educated, well rounded students who can make their way in the
world as successful citizens. This website aims to inform you about the curriculum, facilities and organisation
of our school, and to give you an indication of the philosophy of education which
underpins all that we do. |

| Passmores School ski trip to Claviere >> |
30th
March - 6th April 2008

Passmores
staff and students arrived early on Sunday 30th March in anticipation for the
schools fifth consecutive ski trip to Claviere, Italy. Thirty-nine bodies
eagerly boarded the coach for a short journey to the airport.
We couldnt have asked for
better weather conditions throughout the week, with the first day having a heavy snow fall
and the rest of the week with clear blue skies. This made for excellent opportunity
to hone our ski skills.
The evenings were full of
entertainment with students taking part in quizzes, bum boarding, race nights, karaoke and
a disco. We were also fortunate to be the main stars involved in the ski company's
promotional DVD.
Overall the trip went
fantastically well with many comments throughout the week saying how well behaved and
polite our young students were, which is a credit to them all. |

| Year 11
Exam Preparations >> |

It is that time of year again when our Year
11s have their lives filled by two things, preparation for their exams and thoughts of the
upcoming prom. Pressures on all members of our school community are immense at this time
of year as learners try to get those last bits of coursework completed to the highest
possible grades, as well as revising both in lessons and outside of the normal school day.
We have dozens of learners working with teachers after school every day in order to be as
ready as possible for their exams. Teachers and learners were in school over the Spring
Break revising, and some subjects are even laying on extra sessions at weekends to achieve
everything possible.
We recognise that this is a very stressful
time for our young people, and are always trying to come up with new and innovative ways
to support our learners as they prepare for their exams. One of the things that is key to
success on the day of an exam is for learners to have eaten a proper breakfast to
stimulate their bodies and minds for the rigours of the exam. With this in mind we are
going to be offering free healthy breakfasts to all Year 11s on any day when they have a
morning examination during May and June. The breakfasts will be on offer from 7.15 until
8.30 on every day when there is an exam starting at 8.45. All Year 11s will be able to
come and get some breakfast from the dining room and then go off to a pre-exam revision
session with a teacher from their subject until the exam starts. |
